Holy Thursday - Washing of the Feet Ceremonyhttp://www.stpatsnanango.qld.edu.au/newsandevents/Pages/Holy-Thursday---Washing-of-the-Feet-Ceremony.aspxHoly Thursday - Washing of the Feet Ceremony
Our LG1 students learnt about the significance of the foot washing ceremony today. They washed each other's feet to demonstrate that they are willing to serve others.

According to the Gospel, Jesus performed a final act of service for his Disciples, following the Passover meal. Arising from the table, He tied a towel about His waist and filled a basin with water. Then, one after another He washed the feet of each Disciple, except Judas, who had already departed to betray Him.

When Peter protested that Jesus was about to wash his feet, Christ admonished, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."

After washing the Disciples' feet, Jesus explained what He did and why. "You should wash one another's feet," He told them. "I have set an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." (John 13: 1-17)

St Patrick Day Celebrationshttp://www.stpatsnanango.qld.edu.au/newsandevents/Pages/St-Patrick-Day-Celebrations.aspxSt Patrick Day Celebrations
Every year at our school, we celebrate our school's patron Saint, St Patrick. St Patrick's Day is traditionally celebrated on 17 March which is believed to be the date of Patrick's death.

This day is one of the most anticipated days of our school year and our children love our celebrations. We celebrated with a variety of fun activities in the morning, including Irish dancing, face painting, slime making, rock painting and icing biscuits with green icing.

We then attended Mass at midday, which was followed with a shared lunch. Students, parents and staff members shared plates of "green" food. Our very own Principal made green sausage rolls that "went down a treat".

St Patrick was born in Britain and was captured by Irish raiders who attacked his family's estate and took him to Ireland. He was then held captive in Ireland for six years, living a solitary life as a shepherd. He became a devout Christian and escaped to Britain to undertake 15 years of religious training. Patrick was ordained as a priest and sent to Ireland to convert the Irish, then predominately druids, to Christianity.

2019 Themehttp://www.stpatsnanango.qld.edu.au/newsandevents/Pages/2019-Theme.aspx2019 Theme
Whatever we call this day, it will be full of things that have never been. It will be filled with invitations and opportunities for you to nourish your spirit and prepare yourself for Walking the Journey Together in 2019.

This community is a place where each of us is following a different journey. We come to St Pat's as unique and individual as each individual is unique.

May we, as a school family, make 2019 a place where we 'Walk the Journey Together'. We ask God to be with us, blessing us with warmth, encouragement, light, hope, and peace throughout this year and to affirm the purpose of the journey, and our hope that the journey will be fruitful.

Let's make it a GOOD DAY by opening our hearts and hands to receive the gifts of grace from our God who holds each one of us close; a God who never stops walking with us, guiding us and gently inviting each of us to follow the path to holiness and respond to our call to be religious leaders in our communities.
